Niche - attracts a small audience - specialise interest media product that may only appeal to a small number of people or those who fall within a specific demographic profile 

Mainstream - attract a wide audience - an audience that consumes a product that appeals to a wide range of groups and cultures 

Barb - Broadcasters audience research board - collate viewing figures for all major uk broadcasters such as BBC, ITV and Sky - commission popular shows for more seasons data can then be used by television companies to assess how well a television series is performing- compared with previous series for example or with rival shows on other channels 

  1. Barb - viewing TV data - how many or how they viewed TV shows (age genre ethnicity)
  2. E.g. X factor - specific month/ week 3.12 on Sunday 3.81 on Saturday

Most of the audience reach the platform by print 
The second way where audience reach the platform is by phone 
The least way audiences reach the platform is by tablet

One reason for this percentage is because this way it the more traditional way and is easily accessible and free for people who are travelling to and from work e.g via the underground’s where they have newspaper shops.

34 million adults access to da through a receiver this is due to the idea of adults having access to through radio station due to them listening to radio in their car and or at their work.

On a average a listener tunes into 20.8 hours of radio a week this is probably due to a lot of hours travelling in a car and listening to radio

One media platform which radio producers might use to attract 12-25 year olds is TikTok to advertise anew radio station because TikTok is the most used by that demographic and therefore would be where they could attract a wide audience. 

Another media platform which radio producers might use is instagram as its a platform that appeal to 12- 25 year olds as it is commonly used by them and therefore appeal and attract to them. 

Uses and Gratification Theory
- audiences use the media for different reasons 
Inform educate and escape and social  interaction  promote pies
